Is your wet shaving experience as lavish as it could be? With our handmade lathering bowls and the steps discussed below, you’ll build a thick and creamy lather with ease.
If you are like me, you want magnificent and stress free shave. After dropping one too many ceramic lathering bowls and toiling away to build lather worthy of the title of wet shaver, often falling short I might add, I realized there had to be a better way. I designed this bowl with a specific combination of features not available elsewhere, to cater to the needs of the growing wet shaving community.
The combination of the sprialized ridges, undercut rim, and finger well grip transform your shave from grind to recreation! Saving you time, product, and frustration; our bowls let you get groomed and on with your day in style. Built to last and made by hand, each bowl is a unique piece of art as well.
When we drop new gear for general sale, it sells out rather quickly, making it difficult to get the one you want before someone else snags it. This is why we have made available the opportunity to custom order a bowl from the most popular color schemes in our catalog. Avoid the feeding frenzy, pick you favorite color scheme and claim your spot in line today! If you prefer to select a ready to ship item, our current inventory is available on Etsy [https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheCaYuenWorkshopLLC]
[Features]
The spiralized raised ridges are the shining star of this bowl. The ridges quickly and efficiently build up an amazing lather, with a lot less elbow grease and less product wasted! Moving the brush in a clockwise or counter clockwise motion effectively moves the lather around and breaks down air bubbles, resulting in fluffy mountains of wet shaving goodness. Many customers have enthusiastically reported that even notoriously difficult soaps perform admirably with our bowl.
The ridges also do double duty; using the bowl a “wash board” under running water will very quickly clean the remaining lather from your brush post shave.
But I didn’t stop there. The addition of an undercut rim simultaneously keeps your hard earn lather in the bowl and provides a convenient place to scrape the lather from the brush during working. After only a few uses, you’ll be able to visually gauge your lathering progress with a quick scrape.
As the bowl nestles in your palm, the finger well allows for a secure grip for even the most enthusiastic latherteer. The curvaceous profile makes this feel less like a grooming tool and more like an artist’s palette in the hand.
All of our bowls are made in small batches by a master artisan and avid wet shaver. Not only are our bowls admired for their pure utilitarian value, they are also prized for their ascetics as well. Because every bowl is hand poured, using high quality Urethane casting resin and an array of additives, each one is a unique work of art unto itself. The chaos which is resin casting produces truly beautiful effects.
The durability of this bowl is exceptional, unlike a comparable ceramic bowl. While I won’t claim indestructible status, they are extremely durable. A tumble from the counter to a hard floor will likely leave it unscathed. With proper care, this bowl will last a very long time.

[How to Lather Like a Pro]
To understand how to efficiently build lather like a pro warrants a brief discussion of the lather itself. Lather consists of only three fundamental elements; shaving soap, water, & air bubbles. The water dissolves the soap and mechanical action breaks down the bubbles, causing lather to form. The key to splendid lather is proper soap to water ratio and vigorous agitation with a brush. With our bowls managing the ratio is a snap and the agitation is less agitating!
When you are lathering with one of our bowls, it’s as easy as ABC!
A: Fill your lathering bowl with warm water. Allowing the bowl to warm up will keep you lather warmer longer. A splash of water on a solid soap at this point will make more easily picked up by your brush. Give it a few minutes to soak and hum a happy tune!
B: Shake off the excess water from the brush. The brush should be saturated with water, but not dripping. Work the brush on the soap cake for roughly thirty seconds, until the knot is loaded with thick soap. Pour out most of the water in the bowl, leaving behind about a tablespoon. If you’re using a croap style of product, add it directly to the bowl with the remaining water.
C: Work the loaded brush with a circular motion with moderate pressure. As you alternate between circular motion and scraping the building lather from your brush, you’ll notice that bubbles become smaller and the lather becomes thicker. From here, fine tune your lather to the perfect consistency by adding more water or going in for more soap as needed and work until the perfect consistency. Lather up and get your shave on!

Absolutely beautiful brush. What a great idea to be able to pick components to customize your brush. Rich always is trying to figure out new ways to serve his customers. I have several of his brushes and they are all great.
Great quality. I would purchase again.
Quality, form, and function are all fantastic. Fits perfectly in your hand while working up a good lather. Mine came with a greater amount of red coloration compared to the silver and in my opinion makes the piece look stunning.
These bowls are absolutely incredible!!!
Stunning bowl. Great lather. Rich worked with me to swap out the item I preordered for a newer, in stock item, which was awesome. Medium is pretty big, wouldn’t go any bigger. The bowl looks as good in real life as the pics!
