What are tokens? TOKENS are whispered words of power scattered through the House-etched on cards, tucked into parchment, spoken by the Seer, or hidden in the margins of things best left unexplained.

Some lie dormant. Some awaken. Some unlock doors that do not exist for others.

Some TOKENS are obvious, offered boldly on cards or whispered by the Seer.

Others hide in the quiet places-a line of ink on a folded note, a peculiar word seldom repeated, a phrase that feels heavier than it should.

Tokens are never given. They are noticed.

When a word of power is spoken-the token does nothing on its own. It must be offered-quietly, in the proper place, to the one who listens.

If the word still carries power, the House will stir. A blessing granted. A door unlocked. A favor placed in your path.

If it’s season has waned, only silence answers. No scorn. No curse. Just stillness, as though the word never mattered at all.

And if the token is false-the Seer will simply smile, and carry on.

Not all Tokens endure.

Some wake for a single moon, bright and insistent.

Others sleep for months, waiting beneath dust and memory.

A rare few return-old words recalled by the House with renewed power, when the stars are in alignment.

Keep what you find. Even the quite ones are not always forgotten.

Tokens may assume many manifestations. Though their natures differ, those who study the House speak of four principal archetypes.

Blessings-Quiet gifts from Papa CaYuen. They touch steel, wood, and resin.-brushes, bowls, tools of the ritual. A blessing may lighten the cost, add a token of care, or speed a favored item into your hands.

Favors-Bestowed by the Apothecary. These take the shape of provisions-a sliver of soap, a dram of aftershave, a balm, a tincture. Not payment, but a repayment for atttention.

Omens- These belong to Seer. They do not grant, but fortell. An omen may hint of a coming release, a hidden listing, or a whisper of that which is unknown.-but it demands interpretation.

Keys-The rarest kind of token granted by the House itself. They do not grant things, but passage: a hidden page, a shuttered vault, a powerful item reserved only for the initiated. A key does what it’s nature demands-it opens a door.

Not every token sits neatly in one of these four, but most wander close.

Tokens are never promised twice.

Some will wait patiently in desk drawers and forgotten satchels. Others fade before they are ever spoken. A few return-stronger than before, when the House decides the moment is right.

Keep them. Watch the journals. Listen when the Seer speaks quietly.

When a token calls out to you, act.
